Guanta

Along with my parents and my sisters, I came from Cuba to the United States in 1958, and I consider myself to be very fortunate to be a citizen of this great country. Also, my parents made many sacrifices and faced a number of dangers to escape from Cuba right after Castro and his communist forces had taken over the country. Both have passed away and I will always be very grateful to them for having the strength and the will to ensure that my sisters and I would be free.

Because I was a young child when we arrived in America, I quickly learned to speak and write English and went on to receive a B.S. degree in Marketing. Also, I worked for two of the nation's largest corporations and because I started young, I was able to retire at the tender age of 59.

I am determined to make a positive contribution to HubPages and I feel honored to be a member of a network that has as many talented writers as this one does.
